There you have it, bargainers, New York Fashion Week Spring has ended. Now we get to soak in the new trends we will be seeing in our favorite stores. So long fall clothes, make way for what’ll be our favorite spring wardrobe. And the designers did not disappoint. We asked for some fresh, new trends and that is exactly what they delivered.

The last six days were jam-packed with vibrant hues, bold looks, flashy fabrics, and shapely silhouettes. Look after look of over-the-topness – I know, not a word, but I had to make something up to really define it – that only New York Fashion Week can bring. While the season is not here quite yet and there are still other fashion weeks still to come, there’s no reason why we can’t indulge in what we’ve been given so far.

I will say, a few of my fashion predictions came true. Like always, a lot of inspiration came from years past, floral is set to bloom in spring – pun absolutely intended – and bright colors are taking over.

Spring Fashion Week 2020 Best Trends

• The all-powerful white suit

While we are used to suits in color or in the classic black, white is making its way to the front of the pack. To really make the white suit stand out, designers took the suit in many ways. Adeam took a nautical spin with big gold buttons, a cinched in waist, and navy-blue heels. Meanwhile, Mara Hoffman took a sultry approach by knotting the jacket in the front.

• Power to the peplum

So, I’ll be completely honest with you fellow bargainers, I just recently learned what a peplum was. For those like me that didn’t know, peplum is “a short, gathered, slightly flared strip of fabric attached at the waist of a woman’s blouse, jacket, skirt or dress.” Ulla Johnson used peplum to create a chic, bohemian look in a pastel plaid dress. The peplum gives the dress a cinched-in look at the waist with a long, flowing skirt and sleeves that are puffy at the shoulders and slim toward the wrists.

• Matching from head to handbag

Forget matching from head to toe; let’s take it a step further and match our handbags to our outfits! That is exactly what designers had for Spring 2020. Whether a big over-the-shoulder handbag or a small clutch, they made sure their handbags matched perfectly with their outfits. Michael Kors gave us a nautical feel with a navy-blue blazer, navy-blue two-piece bathing suit, and a navy-blue over-the-shoulder handbag with gold accents.

• Polka dots popping up everywhere

in my opinion, polka dots are the most fun pattern. I just think they give any outfit such playfulness. Marc Jacobs really wanted to evoke that playfulness with a pair of polka dot pants and a frilly crème-colored top hat. Carolina Herrera by Wes Gordon was the epitome of joy during Spring Fashion Week. With multiple polka dot looks, they ranged from giant polka dots covering a mini, flowy black dress, to tiny black polka dots covering a mini white dress with giant black polka dots covering the short sleeves.

• Turning everything black and white

Spring Fashion Week 2020 is causing major changes. Any moment now leopard print will need to move over. Black and white print is here! That’s right, this spring calls for some black and white. Whether polka dots, stripes, or zebra print, this print reigned supreme. Whimsy was the name of the game for Christopher John Rogers. His line included several black and white patterns that perfectly melded style, evening wear, and whimsy all in one. Catherine Holstein’s line Khaite is taking its Americana look and turning up the gaudiness with some black and white checkered patterns thrown in.

• The 80’s are back

Now, like I said in my last blog post, every season we see trends from years past. This season, we are going back to the 80’s. We saw metallic mini dresses, taffeta for days, ruffles, and the ever-iconic broad shoulders. Jeremy Scott’s line – admittedly my favorite – pushed the envelope of sending us back to the 80’s. He described it as “neon rock opera” and boy, does that fit perfectly. Metallic mini dresses, thigh-high boots, crazy colorful wigs, and neon EVERYTHING. Needless to say, I am OBSESSED!

• Neon isn’t going anywhere

So speaking of neon, it is here to stay. As you may recall, fall was all about the neon. Well, neon has decided its gonna stick around for spring 2020. Tom Ford really embraced New York and based his collection on the subways. Think subway street style with a splash of runway. He accented many of his looks with vibrant hues of neon orange in pants, a jacket, and a fully neon orange dress.

• Fringe got a makeover

Now, I’ll be honest, I’m not crazy about fringe. Well, the kind of fringe at NYFW Spring 2020 got an upgrade. We saw sequined fringe that was red-carpet-ready from Christian Siriano and we saw Zimmermann’s fringe adorned with seashells. Gabriela Hearst took fringe a step further by using torn pieces of fabric from her older outfits to create a recycled fringe.

• Americana pride

So apparently, spring 2020 calls for some American Pride. Designers went all Americana at Spring Fashion Week. And I mean full Americana. I’m talking denim outfits from Ulla Johnson, American flag printed jackets from R13, cherry pattern suit from Michael Kors, and even the actual New York City skyline print from Lela Rose. I guess spring is the season of patriotism.

• It’s time to lime

So, every season, we have one specific color that steps in front of the pack. Even in spring 2020, where color is everywhere, there is one color that rises just a little bit higher than the rest. Spring 2020 is all about the lime green. Jonathan Simkhai wanted to evoke a light, dainty, feminine feel with his use of soft lime green on slip dresses and casual suits.

And, believe me when I say, they pull out all the stops.

From fully neon outfits to feathers EVERYWHERE, designers go above and beyond to bring us our new trends.

Now, if I had to use one word to sum up the trends from last season, that word would be bold. Designers really did not hold back. These looks almost convince ME to go out and get a payday or title loan so I can splurge. So, while we wait anxiously for the reveal of our new trends, I thought now would be a great time to look back at New York Fashion Week fall 2019.

New York Fashion Week Trends We Say Goodbye To

• Suits for days

And when I say suits, I don’t mean for men only. Designers made suits for women in every variety imaginable. Tweed, plaid, silk – whatever you fancy, you could have found it. Authority was the name of the game for women in suits. Sharp shoulders and crisp lines give off the boss feeling while cinched in waists and unique tailoring made way for femininity and an almost undone feeling. I suspect we will be seeing more of the power suits for women in the coming seasons.

• Preppy-chic

Oh my, would Blair Waldorf be living with this trend. The preppy look – specifically 70’s inspired – made its way down the runway last season. Designers took this look and put their own stamp on it. The 70’s prep is back with a vengeance. Pleated skirts, blouses with ruffles and bows, and a cardigan or suit jacket all come together for that classic preppy look.

• Neon dreams

Now, when I say neon, I mean NEON. Designers really went as bright and as bold as they could with their color choices. Imagine seeing an entire outfit in multiple neon colors. That is exactly what you saw at New York Fashion Week last fall. Talk about making a bold statement, designers really went for it with the use of these colors. They were so bright it started to look less like a fashion show and more like a rave.

• All hail the tweed

Yes, I am talking about the British man’s pattern. Tweed made its way in many forms last fall. Capes, dresses, pants – anything you could think of was made with this pattern. Originally made in Scotland for men, this pattern has crossed over into the fashion world and has carved a nice little niche for itself. The best part about this is this pattern can be used in many ways. You can make it the star of your outfit or a cute compliment.

• Exaggeration in tow

Whatever the look, best believe it was exaggerated in some way. Over-the-top patterns, crazy fabrics, over sized collars, or insane embellishments all made their appearance on the runway. Feathers, embroidery, embellishments, and accessories were all the rage and made a big impact. There were over sized turtleneck dresses, dresses made completely of colorful feathers and extreme ruffles, and appliques adorned to beautiful gowns.

• Minimal chic

Now, believe me when I say, minimalism held its own next to all the exaggerated looks. Designers really wanted to show how much you could do with less. Many designers stuck with one color palette or chose trends that were already established and just updated them. Leather dresses tailored in unique shapes, mixing different textures to create one look, or bringing back the pleated skirt – these looks require a little but exude maximum style.

• Flower power

Now, this is a trend I am happy about. Floral – like always – was a big hit last season. Designers really focused on floral with dark backgrounds to still give the fall/winter feeling. Flowers took over the runway – as they should. This classic pattern worked in dresses, shirts, skirts, and suits. Placed on top of a dark background, the flowers create the perfect fall feeling.

• Monochrome is the way to go

Believe it or not, when it comes to color schemes, monochrome won big last season. Many looks featured outfits completely in one color. Whether it was completely mint green, bright pink, or white, monochrome was in. I personally love the idea of creating an entire outfit with just one color. I think it’s a unique concept to make an outfit stand out with minimal color use. And talk about being bold enough to wear an outfit that is entirely mint green. I mean, come on!

• Leather weather

Forget sweater weather; last fall was all about leather weather. Leather was everywhere and in every form. We saw leather dresses, skirts, and jackets. Leather was the perfect way to give any look that edginess while still maintaining their femininity. Who doesn’t love a classic leather look? There is just something about wearing leather that makes you feel like a completely different person. I suspect leather weather is not going anywhere this upcoming season.

• Cinch it in

Now, cinching clothes in at the waist was a big hit last season. Designers shared a common theme during fashion week: defining the female body. Whether it was a suit, a dress, or a pair of pants, cinching was the go-to fashion trend. And the way they incorporated cinching in completely different looks blew me away. You saw leather dresses cinched at the waist for an edgy but feminine look, a cinched tea-length skirt for a fashionable preppy look, and the boss babe suit for that authoritative-yet-feminine feel. Plus, who can be mad at a trend that makes your waist look small and gives you curves? I know I’m not.

• Texture everywhere

Whether it was bold or minimal, texture made a big impact. It didn’t matter what the look called for – from preppy to edgy to sophisticated – you can bet it was textured. Rich velvets, smooth silks, and fluffy feathers were just a few textures you could find at NYFW 2019. You saw fully silky suits that just read elegance and richness. There were so many feathered outfits on the runway as well. And when I say feathers, I mean FEATHERS. There were so many dresses made completely of feathers in multiple colors. You must be bold to be able to wear a dress completely made of the fluffiest and most colorful feathers you could find.

• Nod to the past

Not surprising, many designers paid homage to the past when it came to inspiration for their looks. We see this trend every season – and fall of 2019 was no exception. Decades like the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s came back with full force on the runway. We saw the famous prep look, wide-leg trousers, and beautiful jumpsuits. I love when trends come back from the past and are given a fresh, new look. Disco came back in the form of sequins. Designers used sequin embellishments on even their most elegant evening gowns. And, of course, the bright neons also did their part in paying homage to the past.

• Lace loving

Finally, lace was BIG last season. It made an appearance in many looks – and not only as an addition – but as the center of attention. No longer is lace associated with grandma’s doilies. The most intricate patterns were created using lace. What gave this its fresh, new feel? The fact that designers created midi and maxi dresses that were completely lace. Whether paired with leather or floral, lace dresses gave the models a beautiful delicate look. Nope, no more doilies here. Just beautiful, intricate lace dresses.

These Tips Are the Backbones of a Good Outfit

Gone are the days where we are stuck shopping in the rejection pile. Retailers are giving us a lot more options to choose from – and we MUST be prepared. Should we be wearing white? Are stripes for us? Do we wear fitted clothing? With so many questions, these tips will make sure our plus size fashion looks amazing.

• Know your measurements and body shape

The most important tip we all need to know – before getting to the actual clothes – is knowing our measurements and body shape. Just because we are plus size, does not mean we all have the same shape. There’s rectangle, apple, pear, hourglass, and many more body shapes. Once you know your shape and measurements, the actual clothes part is easy. This chart really is great to help you figure out your body shape and how to take your own measurements.

• Focus more on fit than anything else

Yes, I am talking about fit again. This is really one of the most important tips. If your clothes don’t fit just right, there is no way to salvage your outfit. Instead of heading for fabric that is flimsy, go for something with more structure and support. You can still wear clothes that hug your body and show off your curves, just make sure it isn’t too tight. Stylists say if you can see the outline of your underwear over your clothes, then they aren’t the right size for you.

• Choose the right shapewear

In case you didn’t know, shapewear can be an important part of any successful look. I’m not talking about trying to squeeze into something completely uncomfortable and barely breathing for fashion. I am talking about bodysuits, high-waisted tights, or a corset. Make sure to get shapewear that fits comfortably. You don’t want to be stuck wearing uncomfortable shapewear under your clothes for your entire day or evening.

• The right underwear is key

Now, the right underwear can change the game for an outfit. For instance, I hate when my bra doesn’t make me look my best. Good underwear gives you the proper lift you need and keeps everything in its proper place. We all know how miserable it is when we are wearing the wrong underwear. It bunches up or squeezes into your skin. Or when your bra straps will not adjust and keeps drooping. It is the worst feeling. A good pair of underwear is essential to look and feel good.

Now, For the Plus Size Fashion People Actually See

Finally, we get to the actual clothes. This part isn’t as complicated now as it used to be for us. We have so many options – both brand name and not – that make us look and feel great. Putting together an outfit will be a breeze once you go over these tips.

• Dresses

So, let’s say you have an oval-shaped body. For this body type, above all, it is important to draw attention away from your wider stomach and draw the eye to the thinnest part of your body – right under your bust. Empire waist dresses are the perfect choice. For the hourglass figure, a nice fit and flare look amazing. This dress is fun for all body types really – but for hourglass figures, it really accentuates your body and gives you a small waist.

• Tops

For pear-shaped bodies – where your hips are wider than your shoulders – getting tops with puffy sleeves can create a good balance and less heavy toward the bottom. You could also go for ruffled blouses that come in at the end of your breast bone. For women with a bigger bust area, wider backs, and bigger arms, the V-neck or U-neck shirts are your new BFF’s. For example, the V or U-neck will raise your bust. Wrap tops with a V-neck are also a great way to slim both your arms and your back and make your bust look appropriately proportionate.

• Pants

Now, with women with apple bodies – where you are wide in the midsection and both your upper and lower body are the same size – wide-legged pants work wonders. You see, the trick is you want to even out your body and these wide pant legs do that. However, for women with a rectangular shape – plus size in need of curve definition – skinny jeans are your go-to. These jeans show off your legs and give you the little shape your lower body wants. Find a pair that cinches at the waist and you’ve got the hourglass illusion!

• Skirts

So, for the ones with the carrot shape – wider upper body with a tendency to only gain weight in your midsection and up – A-line skirts are the best. The flare of the A-line will give your slender hips the fullness they need to even out your curves. You can also do pencil skirts that do not come in at the knee. You can even look for skirts that have got extra detail around the hips like ruffles or pleating – anything to give your hips some fullness. And length is not a problem for you; play around with it and see what you like. Basically, you’ve got great legs and you need to show them off!

• Don’t be afraid of color and pattern

Now, I know what you must be thinking. “Doesn’t crazy color and pattern just bring attention to the parts I want hidden?” And the answer is a resounding no! We bigger girls can pull off patterns and colors just as good as anyone else. The trick is to choose colors that compliment your complexion. And if the thought of dawning colors that call too much attention, start off small with colorful accessories for a pop of color. Patterns are also something to not steer away from. Just choose your pattern based on your size. For example, bigger midsections should stay away from small print and thick stripes can make you look slimmer.

A study shows, no matter how similar an item is between a man and a woman, the woman’s clothing costs much more. I know, how completely unfair.

Does this mean we can only buy the knockoff brands? Well, not exactly! I’ve got 20 great hacks so you can save your money and still rule your next shopping spree.

• Don’t shop at the first place you go to

There is nothing more upsetting than thinking I’m getting a great deal while clothes shopping – only to find a better one somewhere else. Needless to say, I’ve learned never to buy something if I think I can find a better deal elsewhere.

• Learn the price codes

Yes, retail stores have price codes. Apparently different prices can tell you if an item is going to be put on sale and what kind of sale it is. Whether something is on final markdown and you should snatch it up now, or it is going to be placed on sale and you should wait, these codes tell everything and we need to learn them.

• Put what you want in your cart and leave it there 

I came across this little gem not too long ago. Next time you shop online, put whatever it is you want in your cart and wait for a few days. You will more than likely receive an email from the seller of that item offering you special deals on that item! They really want you to complete the sale and buy their items so, if they see you are apprehensive about buying it, they’ll do whatever they can to convince you.

• Learn what times you should be shopping

I know some women – me, I’m talking about me – say any time is a good time for clothes shopping. In reality, however, there are better times to go shopping that give you the best sales. There is also an app called Shop It To Me that tells you when your favorite clothes go on sale and where.

• Shop for clothes off-season

Now, I know it feels weird off-season clothes shopping, but think about this. Stores are eager to get rid of their previous seasons’ clothing before their new stuff comes in. You can find major deals on things they want to get rid of.

• Do not follow trends

I know it’s tempting to follow the latest trends. But, the thing about trends? They don’t last long. And trends can sometimes be extreme and expensive. Instead of following every trend, go and buy the timeless pieces that will always complete your look and keep you looking good.

• Avoid flash sales

Flash sales are so tempting. The thrill of getting a great deal before the other women in the store is a rush. Your adrenaline is pumping and it almost feels like a high. But, you almost always end up buying things you don’t need or really don’t like. You just buy because it’s a temporary sale and you want in on the excitement. I say avoid them entirely. There will always be more sales – sometimes even better than the flash sale – without the drama.

• Become friends with the sales associate

Striking up a friendship with an associate at your favorite stores can be beneficial. Be genuine and polite, shop with only that one associate, learn their schedule. Retail associates usually are on commission so this regular business will be good for them. As soon as you are their regular, they can let you in on when pre-sales are going to begin and include you in the friends and family discount.

• Create your own path around the stores

Not surprisingly, since the majority of us are right-handed and we drive on the right side of the road, our natural instinct is to go right when entering a store. Retailers know this and make sure to market what they really want to sell to the front right of their store. If you make your own path and go left, you can find the deep sale items – especially toward the back of the stores!

• Shop at the thrift stores and discount stores

Now, don’t knock it till you try it. It takes some work but you can find some pretty awesome stuff at thrift stores and discount stores like Ross or Marshals. I personally love shopping at Ross. I find everything I need and then some for great prices. And, yes, you can definitely find designer brands at these discount stores – they just aren’t allowed to advertise those brands in their ads.

• Search for coupons

Coupons are a great way to save money while shopping for clothes. But who wants to flip through flyers and newspapers for coupons? We just do not have time for that. RetailMeNot is a great coupon app you definitely need. They have so many coupons and deals for popular retailers and department stores.

• Use discounted gift cards

Without a doubt, discounted gift cards, like coupons, are great for saving some money. Gift Card Granny is a popular site for buying and selling discounted gift cards. They even have cashback rewards on a number of their gift cards from every kind of store.

• Look out for a price matching opportunity

Yes, retail stores have price matching. So that shirt you just had to buy? If you see it at a discounted price in that store, you can show your receipt to the sales clerk and they will match the discounted price. Of course, make sure to find out their time limit for price matching; it is usually the same as their return policy.

• Follow your favorite stores on Facebook

Usually, your favorite stores will post their new shipment or whatever special sales they have going on before you see it in the store. A lot of times you can go to the store and find out you JUST missed their sale! Follow those places closely so you won’t miss out!

• Know where you get your best bargains

Now, I’ve been shopping for a while and I definitely have my favorite stores. I know which store I need to go to get the best deals on certain things. Like when I need a new graphic tee, I know Rue 21 has very low prices for good quality t-shirts. Learn which stores carry your favorites at the best prices so you can just go straight to those places. 

• Shop the men’s and juniors sections

You know, we already know that men’s clothing is priced cheaper than ours; so why not take advantage and buy from that section? The juniors section is also cheaper than ours, so if you are petite enough, don’t forget to browse their section too.

• Shop online

Undoubtedly, online shopping is just the best. You can just type in what you want and, bam, you have a plethora of choices and you didn’t even need to leave your room. The best part? You can find great discounts using sites like Amazon or eBay. Amazon even has its own price tracker that’ll tell you if you are getting the best deal.

• Check your credit cards for deals

Surprisingly, many credit cards come with some seriously sweet perks. Cards like Discover, Chase, and American Express all offer some nice rewards. Be sure to check if your credit card can actually help you with your shopping spree. You’d be surprised what that little plastic card can do for you.

• Become a loyal customer

You know, many retailers and department stores have loyalty programs for their regular customers. Loyalty programs help both the store and the customer. You get the perks and they get the business. What a sweet deal. Places like Nordstrom, DSW, Amazon, and many more offer great customer loyalty programs.

• Read reviews

Now, I must read the reviews on EVERYTHING I buy. Reviews can be the difference between buying from a store and just saving your time and money. I especially read reviews before online shopping on a new site. If I don’t like what I read, I won’t even think of looking at anything on the site. I especially read the bad reviews to see what type of issues people are running into and then I make my decision based on what I read.

This brand comes to mind when talking about denim. They have something for every woman. And for fall and winter, choose floral on darker backgrounds like blue, black, off-white, or burgundy. You can find floral anywhere, for a low price. I recommend Forever 21. Whether you need something formal for a dinner or wedding or something casual, they have what you need. • Little black dress

Ah, yes, the little black dress. The dress that makes you feel all the way seductive. Black is an elegant and sophisticated color. It has an air of mystery about it. You put on your black dress with your sleek black heels and your favorite makeup and, voilà, you are feeling and looking your very best. I absolutely love my boots. I will admit, I am not much for heels. Cardigans are my favorite of the fashion trends! I have thicker arms, so jean or leather jackets don’t really work for me. Plus I don’t like feeling restricted. Cardigans are perfect because they are soft and light. They also complete any look. Use them for a contrast of color to make your outfit stand out. I’ve even used them with formal dresses. They are just so versatile! H&M and Rue 21 are my favorite places to go for fairly priced cardigans. Both stores have cardigans in every shade, length, and material imaginable. You’re bound to find one you love!

• Midi dress

I love dresses. There is just something about them that makes me feel so girly and comfortable. Midi dresses are my favorite. For those that do not know, midi dresses and skirts end halfway between your knee and ankle. This type of dress is perfect because it’s easy to dress down or up. You could wear your midi dress with heels, your hair up, and your makeup done for a night out or wear your jean jacket and boots for a casual day look. I recommend shopping on Amazon. • Leggings

Leggings are definitely a gift to us women. They perfectly combine comfort and fashion. I love how they come in different patterns and colors. Leggings just go with everything. When you are going out for the evening but still want to wear leggings, opt for leggings that have a texture like lace or even something bold like animal print leggings under your dress. I definitely agree with this study. There is just something about putting on makeup and getting dressed that makes you feel so good about yourself. It really does give me a little extra confidence boost to take on the day – even if I don’t wear makeup all the time.

 Shining just as bright, for much less, is NYX Matte Bronzer. For $9, this bronzer is great for any season. This powder bronzer comes in five shades and leaves your complexion with a nice, natural-looking glow. This bronzer has a matte finish, easy to blend, and is also made completely vegan.

• Eye shadow

Eye shadow is my favorite part of my makeup routine. There is so much you can do and so many looks you can create with some nice pigmented eyeshadow.

Up first, Kat Von D’s Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette, $48, is highly pigmented for a color that will stand out. Whether you are looking for warm, cool, or neutral tones, this palette has it all.

For a cheaper option, go with Revolution Ultra Eye Contour – Light and Shade for $15. Now, this palette is not just a cheaper alternative; Makeup Revolution went as far as to create an almost identical palette to that of Kat Von D’s. This applies matte and smooth and is also cruelty-free, gluten-free, and vegan.

• Eyeliner

Eyeliner is definitely one of the more tricky things to master. But, once you do, it will definitely elevate your look.

Lancôme’s Artliner – Precision Point Eyeliner, $30.50, is a favorite for makeup artists. This liquid eyeliner comes with a foam tip that makes the eyeliner both last longer and pigmented.

Coming in at a close second, L’Oréal’s Infallible Super Slim Liquid Eyeliner, $8.99, is a great option for less than half the price of Lancôme. This eyeliner comes in three colors and is drag-proof, skip-proof, and smudge-proof.

• Mascara

The right mascara can really take your lashes to the next level. Whether you like volume or length, mascara will definitely transform your look.

Sisley – Paris’ I Deep Black comes in at $67 and has a very unique brush. The curved shape is designed to thicken and give a volume boost to make your eyes pop. It also contains castor oil and passionflower extract to soften your lashes.

Feel like royalty with this cheap alternative. Essence Lash Princess Volume and Length Mascara, $5, gives your lashes the volume and length they’ve been dreaming about. And, this product has not been tested on animals.  

• Lipstick

Lipstick comes at a close second as my favorite makeup. I love how you can be bold with a vibrant color or be subtle with a nice nude shade.

Guerlain Rouge G De Guerlain is a beautiful choice. At $33, this lipstick leaves your lips smooth, soft, and looking lustrous.

Not to be left in the shadows, at $8, Milani’s Amore Mattes Lip Crème leaves your lips feeling like velvet. This lipstick gives your lips a fuller, rich-colored look for an entire 16 hours.

• Blush

Blush is the quiet-but-impactful part of your makeup routine. A subtle rosy tone on your cheeks makes your face look healthy and gives you a glowing complexion.

Givenchy’s Prisme Blush Highlight & Structure Powder Blush Duo comes in at $46. This duo allows you the chance to either be subtle with your blush or go full bold. The lighter shade highlights your face while the darker shade gives you a fresh glow.

Not too far behind, e.l.f Cosmetics’ Powder Blush Palette lets you create multiple looks with four shades to mix and match. At $8, this blush is made for contouring, shading, sculpting, and highlighting. This is also cruelty-free and vegan.

When it comes down to it, I would say you just need to research the ingredients and make sure you know what your makeup is made from. I know that sounds tedious – but, remember, these are products you are putting on your face. I would definitely want to know what goes into the things I am constantly putting on my face.

Some people will say stay away from one specific ingredient if you are prone to allergies while others will say that ingredient is just fine. Neither is wrong; it just ultimately depends on the person and how they react to certain chemicals.

Look, you know your body and you know how your skin will react to certain things. Just do what you need to do to make sure the things you react to, aren’t there. And if you find you are using a certain type of makeup and are getting a reaction, stop immediately and get yourself to a dermatologist.
